Books, clothes, bedding, furniture etc. put to local charity shops Used bulbs and batteries are taken to recycling point for disposal. Shop local. Local butcher and Smokehouse. We buy fruit from a local farm when in season. If we cannot source locally, we look for Scottish produce. Our own locally bred rare-breed hens lay a fresh supply of eggs. Garden plants are chosen to encourage insects and birds. Grow vegetables, fruit and herbs in the garden. We attract butterflies, other insects and bumble bees in the summer Provide a safe environment for winter housing for insects, solitary bees, frogs & hedgehogs. Bird feeding stations in garden along with rockpools beside the pond for birds to bathe. We make aware for our guests, the best places to see wildlife. Planted 16,000 Alaskan Lodgepole Trees creating a woodland walk and home to much wildlife.

If you would like to be a Green Visitor

We are committed to operating in an environmentally friendly way

Here are some suggestions on how to be a greener visitor: Bikes - if you bring cycles, we have secure storage available. Re-use towels - for longer stays, towels are changed every other day, unless otherwise requested. Conserve energy - switch lights off when not needed. Keep windows closed when heating is on. All rooms have thermostatic control on radiators, heating can be adjusted as required. Be water wise - turn off tap while brushing teeth. Reduce, re-use, recycle - leave recyclable goods in your room and we shall recycle them.
